Our Managing Director, Dr Kevin Lin OBE, is the Official Interpreter of the UK Prime Minister and Senior Advisor International at Coutts. We leverage our wealth of expertise in communications in Chinese to empower client endeavours in China. Our teams in Central Function, Brand Commerce and Language Service and Training Solutions work as one to deliver. With over 3,000 days of high-profile events for more than 500 organizations, including No 10 and Buckingham Palace, we have a track record second to none.

Our Timeline

2000

KL’s predecessor ShopaweB was set up to design websites – a new-tech industry in those days with Chinese language service as a side line.

2005

The company renamed itself as KL Communications Ltd in response to increased demand for Chinese language services.

2008

KL grew another 30% despite the international financial crisis and for the fourth year running.

2010

The University of Surrey and KL launched a collaborative MA programme in interpreting.

2011

The Founder/Managing Director of the company was awarded an OBE for service to UK-China relations.

2015

KL provided language service to the UK government and Buckingham Palace during the third presidential visit from China.

2016

KL’s flagship interpreter training programme PMPT was launched.

2018

KL employee share scheme was launched.

2020

KL diversified into English language learning content development, launched a range of training courses and became a global recruitment agent for the University of Surrey.

2022

KL launched its new service in brand social commerce and cross-border e-commerce between the UK and China.

2023

KL upped its game with a new website

Ye Chang

Staff Linguist
As Staff Linguist, Ye joined KL in 2018 after obtaining her master degree in interpreting from the collaborative programme between KL and the University of Surrey. Since then, she has undertaken a wide range of assignments from interpreting to translation. Her repertoire includes finance, banking, engineering, agriculture, nanotechnology, education and health care. She is an excellent multi-modal all-rounder in interpreting with excellent interpersonal skills. Her experience, dedication and enthusiasm make her a true asset to clients when effective cross-language intercultural communication is essential.
